Top 5 Most Popular Restaurants at Walt Disney World

June 4,

Wonder why dining reservations are so important while planning a Walt Disney World Vacation? Some restaurants on Disney property are in extremely high demand. This is mainly due to unique theming, special character experiences or simply because the food is really good.

One of the perks of staying in one of the Walt Disney World Resorts is that you can make advanced dining reservations 180 days from your check in date.  Now, there are more perks that Walt Disney World guests can enjoy.  If you are interested, you can read my previous post Top 6 Reasons Why I Prefer To Stay in Walt Disney Resorts where I explain those in detail.

I should point out that not all of the restaurants on Disney property require advanced reservations.  Although they are recommended, I am happy to report that I have been able to find same day reservations in many restaurants.  That said, if I have my heart set in one of the restaurants in high demand, I am making those reservations 180 days in advance for sure!

With this post, my goal is to inform you of which restaurants in my opinion are HOT amongst Disney Guests.  Keep in mind that this is my personal opinion based on my own experience and the common trend I see amongst many popular Disney Fan Websites.

Top 5 Most Popular Restaurants at Walt Disney World

1. Be Our Guest

Be Our Guest Main Ballroom

Located in New Fantasy Land, over at the Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest is by far the most popular restaurant amongst Disney guests.  Forget about the food for a second.  This restaurant is so well themed, everybody wants to get in and experience what is like to be inside. The restaurant is themed to look like The Beast Castle from the classic Disney movie Beauty and the Beast.  I am not joking here, the place is spectacular and it really gets people immersed in the movie.

Now, lets talk about food. People have mixed reviews about the food at Be Our Guest. I have been there for dinner and breakfast. My experience has been excellent both times I’v e eaten there.

If you really want to have dinner at Be Our Guest, I highly suggest waking up really early the day your 180 day window opens. This is going to be the first reservation you make that day.

2. Cinderella’s Royal Table

Cinderella’s Castle at Sunset

Located inside Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom, this is a very popular restaurant specially amongst families with young girls. The only opportunity for Guests to be inside the big Castle at Magic Kingdom is by having a reservation to this restaurant. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Although they don’t have to, little girls love to dress up like princesses for this experience. Not only they get to have a delicious meal inside the Castle, they also get a chance to interact with Cinderella and other Disney Princesses.

Reservations are highly recommended 180 days in advance.

3. California Grill

Located at the 15th floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, California Grill is in my opinion the best restaurant on Disney property.  I have to warn you, prices are high at this place, but the quality of the food is worth every penny.  Not only you get a good and delicious meal, but also a culinary experience.

Terrace View of Magic Kingdom

To top all that greatness, this restaurant has the most incredible view of the Magic Kingdom.  Even if you don’t get to sit by the window, they have a nice terrace where guests can step out to enjoy the view.  At night, this is a unique location to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks.  Although is pricey, this doesn’t scare people away from booking it so advanced dining reservations are super recommended.

4. Ohana

Ohana is a family style restaurant located at the second level of Disney’s Polynesian Resort. They serve all-you-care to eat Hawaiian style food including coconut bread, noodles, chicken, steak and shrimp skewers and their famous bread pudding dessert.  I had dinner at Ohana for my birthday and we thought the food was great.  I particularly liked the shrimp skewers and the bread pudding!

The restaurant is very popular not only because the food has such great reviews, but also because it’s location.  The Polynesian is one of the 3 resorts located at the Monorail Loop and just like California Grill, Ohana has a view to the Magic Kingdom and consequently it is a great spot to watch fireworks.

The restaurant also offers character breakfast where you can meet Lilo, Stitch & Mickey.

5. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’

Art Smith is an award winning Celebrity Chef.  Perhaps you recognize him as Oprah’s personal Chef.  He has been featured in many recognized food magazines and tv networks. Here is his official website for reference http://www.chefartsmith.net/chef_art_homepage/index.htm

Homecomin’ is one of the newest restaurant additions to Disney Springs and people have been raving about it ever since it opened.  The Chef takes Florida-style comfort food and elevates it for a delicious culinary experience.

Now, I haven’t been at Homecomin’ yet but already have a reservation for my next trip.  I am particularly excited to try the fried chicken because that is my favorite food in the entire world!
